Easit GO and RCDs - Smart solutions with a little imagination

If you thought a platform like Easit GO was just about IT support and case management, think again! The other week I was talking to one of our municipal customers who told me how they use GO in a slightly unexpected way - to keep track of their RCDs.

Ground fault circuit interrupter? How difficult can it be?

For most of us, a residual current device (RCD) is a small white box that sits somewhere in the fuse box and that we hardly think about until the power goes out. But in a municipality, with hundreds of buildings, it's a completely different story. In this particular case, it involves around 15,000 earth leakage switchesand by law each individual device must be tested twice a year.

This means 30 000 tests per year - in a relatively small municipality. Suddenly it doesn't seem so simple anymore, does it?

The challenge: A manual nightmare

Previously, this process was both time-consuming and difficult to keep track of. Staff carrying out the checks documented the results in shared folders and Excel files, making it difficult to get a comprehensive overview. Ensuring that all tests were actually carried out on time became a challenge, and follow-up actions often required manual reminders and duplication of effort.

The solution: Easit GO + a dash of creativity

The municipality realized that Easit GO could be the solution here too. They set up a digital workflow in the platform that automates parts of the process:

Reminders and follow-up - The system sends automatic reminders if a check is not completed on time.
Mobile reporting - Staff can easily log the results on their mobile phone directly on site.
Deviations and actions - If an RCD malfunctions, staff can record an exception and enter an action plan into the system.
Full traceability - All data is stored digitally, making it easy to follow up that all tests are carried out according to legal requirements.

The result: Less headache, more control

By digitizing the work with the earth leakage switches, the municipality has:

Saved tons of time - No need to browse folders or manage different versions of Excel documents.
Gained better traceability - There's now a clear record of what tests have been carried out and what actions are required.
Increased safety - No RCD is missed and the electrical safety of the municipality's buildings is always up to date.

Imagination + GO = Endless possibilities

This municipality has shown that there are few limits to what you can digitize with Easit GO - as long as you have a little imagination. The next time you hear someone say that digitalization is just about IT processes, don't be afraid to tell them how one municipality uses the same platform to keep track of 15,000 earth leakage switches.

Who knows, maybe it's time to start thinking about what you could digitize?
