How Sunne municipality digitized the control of Basic Hygiene Routine - and was awarded for the work

Ensuring compliance with basic hygiene practices in municipal health and social care is a critical task to minimize the spread of infection and ensure safe care.

Previously, there was a national system support from the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) to measure and follow up hygiene practices. When this system was discontinued, it created major challenges, not least in smaller municipalities like Sunne.

Ulrica Eriksson, MAS in Sunne municipality, describes the challenge

- Previously, we did everything manually. The hygiene representatives filled out paperwork that would then be handled by unit managers and forwarded to me for compilation. Paper disappeared, feedback was slow, and it became difficult to act proactively, says Ulrica Eriksson, Medically Responsible Nurse (MAS) in Sunne municipality.

When Ulrica saw how other businesses in the municipality were using Easit GO for digital checks, she realized that something similar could make her work easier.

Quick solution with Easit GO

Ulrica contacted the colleagues responsible for the municipality's digital solutions. The very next day after their conversation, a first version of the solution was available for testing and evaluation.

Today, the solution includes:

Digital forms and reminders for checks: Hygiene Officers now use digital forms instead of paper records, making it easy to follow up and analyze the results. In addition, you will receive a notification when it is time to perform the check.

Easy feedback and overview: The system sends automatic reminders and reports to hygiene officers, managers and MAS, allowing actions to be taken quickly and efficiently.

Clear links and training opportunities: Where necessary, the system identifies knowledge gaps and allows managers to directly enroll employees in relevant training directly in Easit GO.

The award was a testament to success

Sunne municipality's proactive work and their digital management of basic hygiene routines were recently recognized with the Smittskydd Värmland Hygiene Award 2025.

- "We are proud of the award and see it as proof that our work is making a difference. Going from paper to digital follow-up has not only improved the results, it has also further engaged the staff," says Ulrica Eriksson.

Why Easit GO?

By using Easit GO , the municipality was able to quickly implement a solution without having to invest in expensive specialized systems. Although staff had not previously worked with Easit GO , it was easy to adapt the system to previous forms, making it easy for staff to get started without previous experience.

We are pleased that Easit GO can contribute to better and safer care environments in municipal operations.
